Look Inside The World's Largest Adidas Originals Shop, Now Open In Wicker Park

At 4,966 square feet, the new Adidas Originals flagship in Wicker Park is pretty huge for a streetwear/sneaker shop. But it also doubles as big ol' love letter to Chicago and its culture.

The storefront itself (1532 N. Milwaukee Ave.) already carries much local history, as the space covers the former digs of Reckless Records, which is now located further southeast on Milwaukee Ave., and the departed Rodan.

But the design pushes the local angle further, with CTA-inspired custom signage spread throughout the store, plus a pretty on-the-mark 'L'-inspired fitting room, splashed with that instantly familiar brushed silver finish.

The city's artwork gets a tip of the hat, too: You'll catch paintings South Side “calligraffiti” artist Tubsz, a large sculpture by POSE, an alternating installation curated by local nonprofit IPaintMyMind, and an audio-speaker installation by local artist and photographer Nathan Keay. There was also that Chicago-exclusive EQT Support ADV Wicker Park sneaker, which was limited to just 350 pairs and sold only through the store via Adidas Confirmed app. In other words, you'll probably have better luck on the secondary market.

The new store is open daily from 11a.m. to 8 p.m. Take a peek above.
