A woman says she was sexually assaulted and harassed by an Uber driver who was taking her from Uptown to her home in Logan Square last month.
The 30-year-old woman filed a lawsuit against Uber in Cook County Circuit Court on Wednesday, according to CBS Chicago. The suit says her driver, who is identified as "Aleksander" reached into the back seat, groped her and ran his hand up and down her leg during the drive, despite her pleas for him to stop. During the drive, he also asked her to spend the night and offered to pay her.
When they arrived at her apartment, he demanded her number and confirmed it was hers before he would let her out. He then watched her enter her apartment building.
The passenger took audio and video of what happened during her ride and sent it on to Uber. They responded by closing the driver's account, which prompted an angry phone call from him: "Hey [passenger's name] It's me. I want to talk to you because my account is closed. What's fucking wrong with you? Bye."
The woman's attorney was not aware of whether a police report was also filed, and CBS Chicago says police have no record of charges against the driver. Uber declined to comment on pending litigation.
