A woman was rushed to the hospital in critical condition after a man poured nail polish remover on her inside a Near North Side residence.
The victim and offender, both 59 and described as acquaintances, got into a fight inside in the home in the 100 block of West Chicago Avenue around 8 p.m. Wednesday night, police said. The Tribune reports that the incident happened at the Threshold Lawson YMCA on that block.
A police source told Chicagoist that the man doused the woman in nail polish remover. The woman had a severe reaction to the acetone fumes, which she inhaled. She was transported to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in "severe respiratory distress," police said. The man was arrested.
