For Halloween, Beauty Bar Will Be Zero Gravity, That Trashy Suburban Dance Club

This Halloween Beauty Bar has decided to pick a costume that is a bit of a throwback: Naperville's Zero Gravity Nightclub.
The suburban dance club that was once open to the 16 to 24-year-old set of the Chicago suburbs shut down last year after almost two decades in business. The owners said that they planned to move elsewhere, but so far nothing else has popped up. In the meantime, the dance club in Noble Square is hoping to recreate some of that late '90s, early aughts magic that Zero Gravity was best known for this Halloween weekend.
On Friday night, they'll be hosting the "Bump n Grindcore - Jock Jams Edition." On Saturday, they'll be hosting "Another '90s Halloween Party." And Sunday will be "Emo vs Pop Punk." There will be free glowsticks, costume contests and a Halloween photobooth.
Zero Gravity opened in 1995, and became a haven for kids of the burbs to let loose on the weekends. No word on if Beauty Bar will be having a foam party, D-list reality stars or a mechanical riding bull, like the good old days. Thrillist had a great ode to the club, including this anonymous anecdote:
"The first and only time I ever went to Zero Gravity was for a foam party. It was also the first time that I saw people doing finger stuff in public. Me and the eight lifeguards I worked with got hopped up on Red Bull and No Doz then crammed into my mom's Volvo and drove up from Plainfield. I think one person had fun."
The Facebook page for the defunct club has a note indicating that its former owners aren't very happy about this:

THEY ARE USING THE NAME OF ZERO GRAVITY AS THEIR HALLOWEEN PARTY TO MISLEAD PEOPLE.
WE ARE TAKING PROPER ACTIONS AGAINST THIS ILLEGAL MISLEADING ACT.
Beauty Bar for its part notes, "This event is not affiliated with the actual Zero Gravity Nightclub or it's ownership, we are just paying tribute, duh."
