2 Killed In Near North Side Crash After Driver Runs Red Light, Speeds Into Taxi

Two people are dead after a driver crashed into a cab on the Near North Side early on Wednesday morning.
A man, 30, driving a a Hyundai Sonata was speeding southbound in the 1000 block of N Clark Street at around 3:18 a.m., according to police. The driver drove through a red light and rear-ended a cab at the intersection. The cab driver was taken to Northwestern Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the the Sonata was pronounced dead at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, police said.
No other injuries were reported in the crash, and Major Accidents is investigating.

Clark Street was reportedly closed for several hours between Maple and Walton early on Wednesday morning but is now reopened.
