Chicagoist hopes you enjoyed your weekend, perhaps catching some good music at the Pitchfork Festival, watching the Cubs sweep the Cardinals, or just sitting inside on top of an air conditioning vent. Because any kind of good vibes you have left over will be squashed when you check out today's headlines:
- Peoria Wife Tortured By Husband
- 12-Year-Old Leaps From Window To Escape Abuse
- Man Beaten To Death With Baseball Bats
- Suburban Teen Dies After Pool Accident
- Man Shot While Sleeping At Home
- Hit-And-Run Kills One Person, Injures Two Others
- 11-Year-Old Girl Drowns At Indiana Beach
- Man Accused Of Fatal Stabbing At AA Meeting
- Man Killed In Drive-By Shooting On South Side
- Men Found Dead In Van
- Lincoln Park couple killed in house blaze
- Police investigating murder-suicide
- Plane crashes into Lake Michigan
And that doesn't include Maggie Daley's and Cardinal George's cancer, the oppressive heat wave, and of course the Middle East, which has now descended into the 87th circle of Hell. Have a good Monday!

Weekend Diversion: Night Of The Ponies

Thanks to you guys I now want to lace my monday morning coffee with arsenic .... geez. As if my Monday couldn't get any more depressing.
There's also the man who was killed after asking for directions.... http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/custom/newsroom/chi-ap-il-touristkilled,1,2677160.story?coll=chi-news-hed
There's also the guy who got shot asking for directions...
The man getting shot while asking for directions is an example of the animals in society. It goes to show there are truly bad seeds roaming the earth. It also doesn't surprise me that it was Florida. It's either the heat, the water, or the cheap real estate.
Everyone should have just hung out at the Pitchfork Festival. No shootings, fights, etc. Just a lot of love!
oh my god!!! bad things happen in the world?
yup, we'd better just pack it in and slit our wrists. remember kids, down the sidewalk not across the road is the way to go. otherwise you'll just create a bloody mess you'll be alive to clean up!
seriously, you people depress too easily.
welcome to my world ... ;)
