Elvis Perkins is a master of atmosphere — warm instrumentation, like upright bass instead of electric, meshes effortlessly with somewhat psychedelic, usually thought-provoking, lyrics.

Though the guy may have enjoyed some initial advantages in being Anthony Perkins' (Psycho) kid, it's obvious that Elvis' songwriting chops and inspiring performances negate any thoughts of nepotism. A revelatory set at Lollapalooza and a national headlining tour this fall are all signs of a sweet, sweet future song for this young troubadour.
