John C Reilly Performing As Dewey Cox--Tonight!

By Margaret Lyons in Arts & Entertainment on Dec 6, 2007 8:04PM

Talk about buzz. Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story is at the top of everybody's to-see list (it opens Dec 21), but you can catch something even better than a just sneak peak. John C Reilly is performing in person, in character as Dewey Cox, complete with back-up band The Hard Walkers, at the Cubby Bear tonight as part of the Cox Across America tour. The Coxtacular starts with a screening at 7pm and then a performance from the man himself--well, actor--around 9:30. It's free, and it's first come first served. We'd head over pretty much now if you're planning on going.

If Reilly's recent performance in LA is any indication--and...it is--he's going to go through the movie's 15 or so jokey spoof songs like "Let's Duet," which is a bunch of sex jokes (above), and "Let Me Hold You (Little Man)," which is a little-person empowerment anthem. We're partial to "Royal Jelly," a Bob Dylan–inspired ditty, but all the songs are actually pretty wonderful. The night should be hilarious.
