Snow Money, Snow Problems

2008_2_7.blizzard.jpgSo the big snow wasn't all that big after all. At least not in Chicago. Parts of Wisconsin got 20 inches. Ayee! But the lousy weather was indeed shocking--five people were sent to the hospital last night after they received mild electrical shocks, possibly from a bum wire in a utility pole. It's the third electric shock incident in the last few days.

To the surprise of no one, about 1,000 flights were canceled out of O'Hare yesterday, and about 100 more were called off this morning, but planes are back on schedule at this point at both O'Hare and Midway.

Other than potholes and wet shoes, the biggest issue now appears to be digging out cars. Lots of folks are just plain snowed in, and we've seen more people frantically spinning their wheels in the last two days than in the last three years. Kitty litter in the trunk, peeps. [Trib, S-T, Trib]

why must it be kitty litter? surely gravel would work equally well, and doesn't contain all the chemicals kitty litter does.

Besides, the way I got stuck last week was by being hung up on the snow. No kitty litter or gravel would have helped that. I had to dig out underneath the car.

Another issue? Leaky ceilings. Mine has been dripping on and off since last night due to all the melting snow on my roof. Argh.
