Tomorrow Year's First 70 Degrees, Maybe

Chicagoist4_15_2008_70s.jpgIf it seems a long time has passed since you’ve talked about how nice the weather is, it’s because, well, it has. It’s been 178 days since the temperature in Chicago has reached 70 degrees. No, it’s not normal. Only three other times in Chicago history has more time passed between 70-degree temps--in 1944, 1958, and 1993. But meteorologists are predicting that tomorrow's temperature will stop our streak of cold weather with an expected high of 73 degrees! Yay! Downer Alert: Pack in all the nice weather activities you can tomorrow because it’s going rain the rest of the week. On the fun-fact bright side, the average date Chicago reaches 80 degrees is April 28th, so before you know it, you will be replacing your SAD light with sunlight and your jeans with jorts. yaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyy!

All Chicago businesses should close and we should get an automatic vacation day on the first 70 degree day of the year as reward for putting up with the 347 days of absolutely miserable freeziness.

Shut up! You're gonna jinx it!
