GTA Suing CTA Over Speech, Contract

2008_5_6.gtacta.jpgThe publishers of Grand Theft Auto are suing the CTA after the agency pulled the ads for the game a few weeks ago. According to Take-Two Interactive Software, that violates a $300,000 deal and their right to free speech. Also, common sense.

Take-Two wants the CTA to put the ads back up, plus cough up $300K in damages. We still haven't seen anything that suggests anyone other than the local Fox News affiliate cared about or disapproved of the ads, and surely ads for R-rated movies have occupied the same space. Luckily, the CTA is flush enough with resources that they can turn down advertising deals plus fight a costly legal battle. Doors open on the left needlessly reactionary. Dear god, I can't believe I still pay to ride the train everyday. I'm to the point where I would rather spend 5X as much to drive and park, just to ensure I don't give another wasted $ to the CTA

besides ratings, i don't understand what FOX news hoped to accomplish with its story. does it really consider itself to be a moral compass for the city? regardless of them pulling the ads, i still see them EVERYWHERE, including bus shelters.

considering our city mimics the world of GTA, the governor should have been proud for the ads.

So now instead of running a profitable ad for a product only adults can purchase anyway the CTA is going to spend an ungodly sum on lawyers to defend a ridiculous over-reaction? And quite possibly lose all the money they made in addition to those costs.

Money well spent.
