Zambrano to Have MRI

2008_06_zambrano_injury.jpgDid that old goat curse claim itself another victim? Cubs ace Carlos Zambrano left last night's game in the seventh inning after feeling discomfort in his shoulder.

Zambrano will fly back to Chicago for an MRI this morning to determine whether there's any damage or not. There is some thought that the pain might be associated with a stiff neck that began bothering Z about a month ago. Since that time, he's just 2-2 with an ERA of 4.67 and he's walked three or more batters in five of seven starts -- way off his pace from the beginning of the season.

If Zambrano lands himself on the DL for any significant amount of time, Jim Hendry might need to begin looking to make a deal sooner rather than later. They'll need somebody to eat up innings like Z does if they expect to remain atop the standings.

Did that old goat curse claim itself another victim?

okay, Mr. Flamebait. come on, this is Zambrano. strong like bull. he won't be out any longer than he absolutely has to be.

So I guess the Cubs should give up now and start a firesale, right Benjy?

fire sale!!! trade off all he big names, salary dump, the sky is falling

There's no such thing as "curses," unless you're referring to the starting rotation for my Fantasy Baseball team.

So was this the result of pitching or of him having one of his macho nacho baby tantrums?

it's the interwebs fault

i'm guessing it's pitching...the last tantrum was in LA and he had one outings in between last night and then and he was fine, although no win.

if Soto hadn't spoken up Z would have pitched until his arm fell off or the Rays got 10 runs in an inning, whichever comes first.
