Accidents Plague the Holiday

Holiday weekends tend to bring out the freak accidents and unfortunate circumstances. This weekend is no different. Already there are reports of:

  • A toddler being shot by his father’s gun during an exchange of gunfire in a liquor store. [S-T]
  • After adding too much lighter fluid to the BBQ, a man has been hospitalized with second-degree burns. [WBBM]
  • Two officers were hurt when a car crashed into their squad car after running a stop sign. [Trib]
  • Three children have been hurt in an alcohol-related car crash. [WBBM]
  • A Taylorville man, celebrating the holiday with his first skydive jump, has died. No information yet on the exact cause of death. [WBBM]
  • While watching fireworks, a 5-year-old fell into Jackson Harbor and drown. [Trib]
