Whole Foods Now Feces-Free

2008_7_14.getithesamouse.jpgThe Whole Foods on North Ave passed its no-mouse inspection over the weekend and is officially back open.

The store was closed last week after a city inspection found over 100 rodent droppings in a walk-in cooler. The store then failed its reinspection on Friday. But the third time was a charm! [AP]

well that's a relief. i was worried that a giant rat would jump out of the pile of organic samoan persimmons that I buy for 14 dollars a pound.

boooo! bad choice of pic, chicagoist! fievel is an american hero!

I have to be honest. I worked in a grocery store. With the amount of food contained in the store, and the amount of doors that are always open (customers in and out, delivery trucks, etc), I think its nearly impossible to keep rodents out of the store, that's why you make sure everything is off the flore and plastic wrapped.

With that certainty in mind, it makes you wonder if Dominick's friend at city hall was making life annoying for the competition or maybe b/c they didn't pony up tens of thousands for the Taste???

having worked in a whole foods i can assure you that it's not just one store or even just one chain. that's why employees are still working for two hours after the store is locked and an hour before it opens, you gotta clean that shit (no pun intended) continually.
