Sweet photos! I was boarding a plane at O'Hare when this line of thunderstorm cells started passing through Chicago. We were sitting at the gate for over an hour. Apparently, they evacuated an (off-site) air traffic control tower out in the boonies. I had a terrible vantage point for viewing but the sounds, especially rain beating on the airplane's aluminum skin, were incredible. My expratriated, native Chicagoan heart pounded happy beats even though my flight was delayed.
Those are some awesome shots. I had attempted to get some shots of the lighting but failed. I did manage to get video of the power going out.
