Southwest is eliminating 196 flights nationally and 22 flights from Midway, the most of any airport, as a result of high fuel costs. From now on, there will be one fewer flights per day to Denver, Fort Lauderdale, Hartford, Houston, Los Angeles, Manchester, Oakland, Omaha, Orlando, Philadelphiam Pittsburgh,Portland, Providence, Raleigh-Durham, Sacramento, San Diego, St. Louis, and Tucson, and two fewer to Baltimore and Nashville. Every Southwest flight I have been on in the last year (about a dozen) has been packed to the gills. Not an empty seat anywhere.
That said, I can't complain as the flights are mostly on time and the one time there were issues SWA credited the entire cost of the ticket. A five hour delay on the plane is almost worth flying for free.
