Today's weather is the tried and true stuff of that late Chicago autumn period: cool, cloudy, and a mix of precipitation. Indeed, temps will hover in the mid-40s and there's 60 percent chance of a wintry mix (rain, sleet, a bit of snow). Temps will stay in the 40s and even rise at a point overnight, meaning it's all gonna turn to rain and the next couple of days look the same. And if it seems a little colder than usual for this time of year, that's because it's the earliest spell of three days or more without a high above 40 in 13 years.

Today is also Veterans Day. Today we honor those who serve for us now and those who came before us, those who fought and served our country over the years and have defended this great country of ours so that a group of liberal arts majors could do something as inconsequential as write on a blog. Many of us at Chicagoist have Veterans of the Armed Forces in our families (hi, Dad!) and we even have one amongst our own (a salute to you, Mr. Sudo). To all of you, we can never give thanks enough for your sacrifice and your service.
