Today is a day fit for neither man nor beast. By now, we've all heard how cold it is and the fact that it's going to stay below zero for a while. Some places may or may not crack zero until late Friday night into Saturday when temps begin to rise again. Until then, we'll have clear skies and temps somewhere below zero. A Wind Chill Warning is in effect until noon tomorrow as wind chills are expected to be between 25 and 40 below. And since we all know how this kind of weather messes with the trains, remember to check with the CTA and Metra for delays before heading out.

The good news? There's warmer weather on the other side of Friday; in fact, Chicago Weather Godfather Tom Skilling is bold enough to suggest that temps could hit the upper 30's (that's almost 40!) by next Wednesday. Dare to dream! Also, as of today, we are halfway through the meteorological season of winter.
