Chicago 2016 "Shines" Light On New Tagline

2009_03_13_chi2016.jpg With the IOC's April visitation drawing closer, Chicago 2016 is revamping its marketing strategy and took things a step further today by announcing its new tagline, "Let Friendship Shine." In a press release, Patrick G. Ryan, chairman and CEO of Chicago 2016, said:

Chicago is known for its warm and welcoming people and its hospitable nature, and we hope to demonstrate this to the Evaluation Commission next month. We know that many friendships are formed between athletes and fans of different nations because of the Games...Striving to be an Olympian or Paralympian is an outstanding goal and achievement that takes years of hard work, dedication and commitment. Not everyone can be an Olympian, but anyone can be a friend and hopefully become a friend of Chicago 2016 and the Olympic Movement.

Not to be outdone, the folks at Chicago 2016 will also celebrate National Friendship Day on August 2nd. No word if the organization plans to ask the city for a new TIF to fund their new friendships. [Sun-Times]

Not that I could come up with something awesome, but what are we, five?

By friendship, do they mean the kind that that's based on campaign support? The Burris-Blago type of "friendship"? Cause that's given a real "shiner" on the face Chicago. Hey-oh!
