Duque's Last Supper

2009_03_duque.JPG In "Quick Bites" a couple weeks back we noted that chef Kendal Duque was leaving Sepia (123 N. Jefferson St.), with NoMI chef Andrew Zimmerman replacing him.

Duque's final night at Sepia will be next Sunday, March 29; he's crafted a special menu for the occasion. From 5-9 p.m. a $35, fixed price dinner will be offered (exclusive of tax, gratuity and drinks). Full menu is below; RSVP to 312-441-1920

The Last Dinner

Flat Breads (served family style)

- Market selection


To Start (served family style)

- Roasted foie gras and spring vegetables with truffle and chicken jus

- Grilled ham with creamy polenta, wild mushrooms and fried duck egg

- Baby octopus and garbanzo bean salad

- Steak tartare with sourdough bread and raw farm egg


Entrees ( choice of one)

- Walleye pike with artichokes, peas, wild mushrooms and cashew vinaigrette

- Grilled berkshire pork chop with arugula and apples

- Slow roasted veal breast with mint noodles, cipollini onions and truffle butter


Sweets

- Selection of tarts, pies and cakes

The chef has prepared quite a meal for his final farewell. I also think that he looks like one of the contestants on the new American Idol competition. Danny Golke, I believe, is the contestants name. Being a fantastic cook is an art. I wish you the very best in all of your future endeavors.
