Tribune reporter, stuntman of local food writers, expert on fish tacos and "cheeseburger bureau chief" Kevin Pang posted a preview of his new project chronicling where to get the best cheeseburgers in town. "The Cheeseburger Show," debuting April 16, will air six times a week on CLTV, in HD online at the not-yet-launched www.cheeseburgershow.com, and be available as a download at iTunes. Pang also said that the program may also air as a segment on WGN News.

I want to think this is April Fools.

Certainly a media outlet that has cut and consolidated its foreign reporting staff, let go some of the country's best investigative reporters, and laid-off other fine veterans, would put any more resources into the already overcrowded field of food writing, or support an effort to keep the good citizens of northeastern Illinois up-to-date on the all important issue of greasy meats.

April Fools, right?

Pang's a damn good writer, but this is depressing, then.

Dittoing the no, perhaps unnecessarily... I read about this last night on Electra's (DJ @ Q101) blog -- she being a big ole cheeseburger lover herself and featured in some of the show.

I wish chicago had more non-gormet burger joints. Kind of like a chicago shake shack.

I love hamburgers, i just don't necessarily want to sit down at a table and the thing with a knife and fork.

nahmean?

There are plenty of them, matty, Top Notch being among the best. Knowing Kevin and his curiosity, I'm sure he'll be hitting some of those palces up in future installments.

For what it's worth, I went to the new Hop Haus on Howard street recently (which is where the above photo was taken, I assume, and not the other one). While I opted for the three "gourmet" mini burgers (I had the ostrich, kangaroo and bison, but had a bite of the boar and it was kick ass), they do have plenty of regular burgers that looked pretty god on the menu. Another friend had an avacado burger that he said was great. They pretty much use the same buns on each burger. Lots of TVs so you will never miss a game (if you're into that as I am), a nice bar area and plenty of table room. I highly recommend it if you're after non-gourmet burgers.

I went there last week myself. The boar was fantastic.
