Local Bars Make Food & Wine Top 100 List

2009_05_green_mill.jpg Food & Wine magazine released its "Cocktails 2009" guide this week. Listed in the guide's contents are the top 100 bars in America. Chicago charted five bars on that list, which will only reinforce the belief of some that Our Town's moment in the culinary zeitgeist is over.

The lucky quintet are Green Mill, the Violet Hour, Nacional 27 — which is really just a beso grande to Adam Seger - , the Drawing Room, and C-House. It's a strong bunch, but any of the five could easily be replaced by other places like Weegee's, Bar DeVille, matchbox, or even the Whistler, which only shows that Chicago has a richness of spoils here and shouldn't care what media on the coasts think.

That Whistler add makes a nice segue with which to remind you that we'll be incessantly pimping our fifth anniversary party there in a few weeks.
