We suppose if you can get sued for something you say on Twitter, you can pay thousands of dollars to study it in the classroom. DePaul is joining the social media fray by offering a class on Twitter this fall. Taught by the Trib's digital intern Craig Kanalley, is called, "Digital Editing: From Breaking News to Tweets." According to one report, the class description is:
"College of Communication is exploring the new frontiers of journalism through courses on Twitter, entrepreneurial journalism and backpack reporting, providing students with cutting-edge knowledge in this rapidly changing field."
No word yet if you can combine this with a minor in LOLCats. [WBBM, E&P]

i miss my history of rock n roll class from DePaul
An INTERN is teaching a class at a university.
This is how weird the media has become. And that's not a slap on the intern, who likely has more contact with digital media on a daily basis than most reporters at the Trib do all year.
And this is what kids today are going into debt over.
and by the time the students graduate, something else will have replaced twitter.
A word I'd like to see permanently retired: tweet.
