interesting straight dope article. since i'm a grid nerd, this was particularly intriguing. i was ready to get all up in a fight, cause i'm thinking ... i say two thousand N and four thousand W and stuff like that ... but then i went to say ashland out loud and i was like .. 16 hunnert N. oops. 32 hunnert N. i definitely am a combo girl.

as far as the south side, that's just up for grabs. they're numbered streets, you call them by their numbers. hundred and 11th, 95th. twenty second. stuff like that. at least, that's my take on it.

i'm a switch hitter in that department.

Definitely hunnerts! But I probably switch for certain streets too...

The argument is specifically about street numbers that are divisible by 1000. I think its awkwardly jarring to say something like "thirty hundred north" when you could say "three thousand north"

Conversely, when talking about a number like 3200, of course I would say "thirty-two hundred north," not "three thousand two hundred north"

So I guess I'm a split-hitter here.
