The man and woman accused of last week's bat attack in Bucktown have been formally charged. Heriberto Viramontes (pictured left), 30, and Marcy Cruz (pictured right), 25 have been charged with two counts each of armed robbery and aggravated battery for the beating. According to a police report, Cruz was caught on video using a credit card stolen from one of the victims. A judge denied bond for Viramontes and Cruz will appear in court tomorrow for her bond hearing. The Trib also spoke with Stacy Jurich, one of the beating victims.

Meanwhile, police are investigating a separate beating incident, this one in broad daylight. Yesterday afternoon, a North Park University female student was attacked, pulled into an alley, beaten, and robbed at 3:30 p.m. The attack happened close to the CTA Kimball Brown Line station but police haven't released any additional details.
