Local indie-rock vets Kid, You’ll Move Mountains (Troubled Hubble, Inspector Owl, El Oso) posted some very exciting news recently. Not only are they making a second record, the follow-up to 2009’s atmospheric and underrated Loomings, the band also said they’ve been tapped to open the first of the two Dismemberment Plan reunion shows in February.

About the opportunity, KYMM member Jim Hanke wrote on the band’s blog that, “We've crossed paths through various projects over the years and as excited as we already were to see them on their upcoming brief reunion tour… we never thought in a million years that we'd be asked to open for them, let alone at an already sold-out show in front of 1,100 people.”

If you’re interested in sampling new music from Kid, You’ll Move Mountains, check out live footage below of a new song, “Me In Memphis” shot at a recent show in Dekalb. “Memphis” combines thoughtful, slowly building dynamics with heavily rhythmic breakdowns and a gorgeous, echo-laden guitar line. The pulse-pounding, hardcore-tinged drum work should blend well with the D-Plan’s similarly minded music. February can’t come soon enough.

Why not also check out a track from Loomings as well.
