Local Brewery Turns To Kickstarter

2010_12_9_pipeworks.jpg Pipeworks Brewing Co. is the brainchild of Beejay Olson and Gerrit Lewis, who met while working at West Lakeview Liquors, one of the better beer geek havens in town. Olson and Lewis have been slowly getting their brews out to Our Town's beer drinkers, brewing from a location in Bucktown.

Lewis said that he and Olson are ready to start scouting locations for a permanent brew house in January and, like many budding entrepreneurs, they've turned to kickstarter to raise funds. As of post time they're a little more than halfway toward their $30,000 goal with a deadline of Dec. 31 looming.

Meanwhile, Pipeworks has tastings set up at West Lakeview Liquors from 6-8 p.m. Dec. 17, all ten of their test beers will be available at Half Acre's Christmas Party Dec. 18, and a tasting at City Provisions is set for Dec. 21 from 5-7 p.m.
