Congratulations, West Loop! You're Getting a Small WalMart!

While Lakeview residents are up in arms about the possibility of a WalMart in their neighborhood, The Tribune is reporting that the world's largest retailer is opening a small-scale store in the Presidential Towers complex in the West Loop.

WalMart plans to spend $1 million to build out 26,491 square-feet of space at 555 W. Madison. Coupled with the speculation that they're still working on finding a retail space in Lakeview, the news is a sign that WalMart is aggressively pursuing each of its "hundreds of conversations" to open up to two dozen stores throughout the city.
