Daley Just Gave Oprah an Honorary Street

So the dog and pony show a couple weeks back where Mayor Daley named the street outside Harpo Studios "Honorary Oprah Winfrey Way" as they were both planning on riding off into the sunset together? Turns out that the proclamation didn't receive City Council approval.

Not yet, that is. The City Council's Transportation Committee will meet on Monday to review a list of a dozen designates for honorary city street designations, including Winfrey.

We're not surprised by this news. After all, this is the same Richard Daley who tore up Miegs Field under cover of darkness. Does anyone think that they're going to say no? If they did, you can believe Oprah, armed with her own network now, would turn it into a PR nightmare. That's not counting the bad press the city would receive if they were forced to take down the sign.

IN short, nothing to see here.
