Rapper Common Talks to Jon Stewart About That Ridiculous White House Controversy

Chicago-based rapper Common sat down with Jon Stewart to discuss his upcoming book and the controversy surrounding his visit to the White House. Back in May, President Barack Obama invited Common to the White House to do a poetry reading. After Common's poem “A Letter to the Law” was posted online, Sarah Palin took notice and started a Fox News firestorm, wherein Common was called a "vile rapper." As the TV news talking heads made a mountain out of a molehill, Stewart defended Common on his show. At the time, Common kept his cool. He just sent out a few lighthearted tweets. On the Daily Show this week, Common told Stewart that he found the whole thing humorous, and he knew that those saying he raps about killing cops had clearly never heard him before.
