Reminder: Chicagoist DJ Night at Maria's Thursday
In case you missed the announcement Sunday, Kevin and I are going to do our best to turn Maria's Packaged Goods and Community Bar into a old-fashioned basement soul music party Thursday night.
It's gotten to the point to where Kev and I are planning our sets to make sure that 1) they're different from each other and 2) they keep everyone entertained. On some level we also want to do the music staff proud, as we're going to be alone in front of our touchscreens of steel in a couple of days.
We also want to pack Maria's, which recently celebrated the first anniversary of its new look. Ed Marszewski and company have done something pretty tremendous with rehabbing Maria's that goes beyond the improved beer and cocktail menu. There truly is a sense of community being built at 31st and Morgan Streets that's incorporating other businesses in the area.
So come on out, say hello and stay for some cold beer and hot soul. The festivities start at 9 p.m.
