More Gacy Victims Exhumed

2011_10_12_gacy.jpg Last week a Cook County judge ruled for one of the victims of John Wayne Gacy to be exhumed so that DNA testing could be conducted. Today comes news that Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart's office had exhumed the remains of eight unidentified victims of Gacy in recent months so that DNA testing may finally lead to identifying them.

Dart’s cold-case squad worked with the University of North Texas Center for Human Identification to extract DNA samples. Gacy murdered 33 young boys from 1972 through 1978, but only 25 were identified. Last week Sherry Marino, mother of Michael Marino, won a request to have her son's remains exhumed to collect DNA samples to prove once and for all the body in the grave is that of her son.

The eight unidentified bodies are buried in graves marked "We Remembered" on gravestones throughout the Chicago area. Dart's office released a video detailing the exhumations.

Dart asked for anyone with information regarding the unidentified Gacy victims to call 800-942-1950.
