Board of Trade Has a Second Message for Occupy Chicago

In their own act of civil disobedience, someone at CBOT made personal use of an office copier and ignored littering laws to fling flyers out the window which read “We Are the 1% Paying For This.”

Much like the first message that appeared in the Board of Trade windows a few weeks ago, members of Occupy Chicago had a good laugh and continued on. Demonstrator Micah Philbrook allowed that it was pretty insulting, adding “What are they paying for? The only thing they paid for was those pieces of paper.”

Occupy Chicago plans more actions this weekend. At present, the location has not been chosen, but members do plan on attempting to find another place to set up camp. A march begins in front of the Federal Reserve at 6:30 p.m on Saturday.

I somehow doubt the insecure office grunt who made those fliers pulls in the $350,000+ per year to actually qualify as among "the 1%."

At my job the presidents wouldn't know how to:

    A) Make the flier
    B) Print it.

Copier technology has advanced. There's a big green button on the new ones to make the process of producing silly documents as fast as possible.

I still don't doubt your presidents would be confused.  Some people always are.

Real scenario:  Boss storms out of room with copier "Copier's not working!!!".

Meanwhile:  Flashing warning on copier (that does everything for you except put paper inside itself) says "Out of paper" "refill tray one"........................

The same works for computers as well. "My computer doesn't work. My screen is just completely black. What's wrong?!?!?" Is your monitor turned on? "Oh."

  • Navin_Johnson

Yeah, we have a lot of PEBKAC moments with the bosses.  I'm not even very tech myself, so that says a lot.

  • it's as if they want us to hate them. I only pity them.

Who knew rich guys were such jerks?

  • Tafter

Well, as long as we are picking out the actions of the few to draw broad conclusions:

    - Traders are a**holes
    - Tea Partiers are gun toting racists
    - OWS protestors are smelly, disorganized hippies with too much to pay in student loans

Do we all feel better now?

The only stereotype I'll buy into wholesale?  "Politicians are laughing all the way to the bank."  Maybe you could leave Ron Paul out of that one, but he's a bit nutters, so who cares...

    Traders are a**holes

Always thought this was something they kind of celebrated and embraced themselves.

If only the 1% were as witty as they are arrogant this would be a lot of fun.

  • Alexander Naylor

Hmm…so sales taxes, lottery tickets and payroll taxes no longer count?

  • Was this the Friday Diversion?
