A still from ABC7's Countdown Chicago co-hosts Janet Davies and Mark Giangreco smooching at midnight on New Year's Eve. We apologize for the blurriness.

This afternoon ABC 7 sports anchor Mark Giangreco talked about his New Year's Eve midnight kiss with co-host Janet Davies on Countdown Chicago on the "Waddle & Silvy" podcast with ESPN Chicago. For those who missed it, we posted the video from ABC7 on Sunday. Check it out if you haven't already. As they said in the podcast below, it went on for about "ten Mississippi."

Giangreco made his weekly appearance on the podcast today to chat about football and the firing of Jerry Angelo. Giangreco comes on at the 2:20 mark in the three-hour podcast. At the 2:22 mark the hosts ask him about his New Year's kiss with Davies. He starts by talking about how he joined Davies on Countdown Chicago, starting with former host James Ward falling off a stool drunk. Then Giangreco talks about it, steers the conversation away briefly, then returned to it until 2:28. Then they bring it back to the topic of the kiss at 2:40, and at 2:47 listeners call in with their stories of seeing "the kiss heard 'round Chicago."

We weren't sure which voice was Tom Waddle and which voice was Marc "Silvy" Silverman so we just wrote "Host" below where one of the two spoke. Some highlighted quotes:

Giangreco: We just, ya know, it's New Year's Eve, so you just kiss at midnight. We're buddies.

Host: That's not how you kiss your buddy.

Giangreco: I can't help if she had her tongue in my ear. Bow-chicka-wow-wow.

Host: People called it a mauling, that she mauled you.

...

Giangreco: Look, we do that every year. We do something every year, so we try to make it disturbing

Host: Oh, so that was organized disturbance?

Giangreco: No, actually we don't plan anything. She just grabbed my head and said, "Come on." And I said don't pull my ears, I know what I'm doing.

...

Host: Did you get onions?

...

Giangreco: So we just kinda sucked face for a while, so what?

Host: Ok, that's cool.

Giangreco: Janet's husband doesn't care.

Host: Sounds like a vacation for the three of you.

(Ed. Note: Silvy has the slight nasal tone to his voice while Waddle is the one who sounds like a pompous former football player whose bell was rung once too often. Oh, wait, he is. — CS)
