A few non-traditional holiday shows take the stage this week. Thankfully.

Burning Bluebeard

A devastating fire, clowns and a Christmas pantomime—sounds like just the kind of wacky holiday show we’re in the mood for. (Sorry, A Christmas Carol.) The show runs through Sunday Jan. 5.

Theater Wit, 1229 W. Belmont, 773-975-8150 or online.

The Seafarer

Irish playwright Conor McPherson’s eerie Christmas Eve dark comedy takes a look at the bleak cost of redemption. It’s not your typical holiday fare—and we’re okay with that. The show runs through Sunday, Jan. 5.

The Den Theatre, 1333 N. Milwaukee, 866-811-4111 or online.

The Little Prince

Based on a French novella, The Little Prince is a whimsical story about a pilot stranded in the Sahara Desert and the young prince who helps save him. The play is boasting some stunning visual effects. The show runs through Sunday, Feb. 2.

Lookingglass Theatre, 821 N. Michigan Ave., 312-337-0665 or online.
