Bail has been set at $100,000 for Joseph Fults, the South Shore man accused of running over his girlfriend’s 8-month-old daughter with his SUV in a domestic dispute early Monday.

Fults faces misdemeanor battery and domestic battery charges in the incident, which occurred around 2 a.m. Monday at 75th Street and Cottage Grove Avenue. According to police, Fults punched his 23-year-old girlfriend while she was still in the SUV and, when her 7-year-old son tried to intervene, Fults punched the boy.

Video has surfaced online allegedly showing the incident. In the video, the woman can be heard shouting, “Hey! He just threw my daughter,” before the SUV accelerates and can be seen running over something. Chicago Police, who initially reported Fults threw the infant from the vehicle, clarified that Fults instead handed the infant to his girlfriend, who dropped the baby shortly before Fults allegedly ran over her.

Both the infant and 7-year-old were treated for their injuries at Comer Children's Hospital
