Today's Weather: Dip, Baby, Dip

By Jon Graef in News on Oct 4, 2014 2:45PM

If yesterday was sweater weather for you, then a coat is absolutely necessary for today's potential record-breaking cold.

As Chuck mentioned yesterday, the coldest high temp on record for Oct. 4 in Chicago is 48 degrees, a record that's been in place for over 140 years. So far, it's looking good on the record-breaking end for the cold, as Accuweather has a balmy-by-polar-vortex-standards 39 degrees right now. [To a high of 45. Skilling concurs, adding today's the coldest day the area's seen in five months, with gusty winds from the northwest.]

To add insult to injury? Rain, roughly two hours from now, snow, then frost inland later tonight. The National Weather Service issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for later tonight as well. Bundle up. It's gonna be a rough one.
