A few times a year NoMI Pastry Chef Meg Galus turns the Library in the lobby of the Park Hyatt into a beautifully decorated store full of treats and gifts. Starting last Wednesday and continuing to Dec. 24, it has been turned into the festive Sugar & Spice, full of candy and delicious baked goods.

Taking refuge from the sleet outside, we visited for some coffee and sweets. They also have bittersweet hot chocolate which you can adorn with your choice of fluffy homemade marshmallows in several flavors. If hot chocolate is your main interest they also have a special hot chocolate bar on the seventh floor.

But if candy is your thing, Sugar & Spice has candy barks like peppermint chocolate, beautiful boxes of chocolate truffles, and colorful macaroons. If you just want something for yourself, they have little individually -wrapped “lollipops” which are basically a stick topped with a truffle. I had a boozy eggnog one, filled with creamy melt in your mouth ganache.

I took home an adorable little mini bundt cake to enjoy with later cups of coffee.

Our Candy Crushes is a series focused on the most delicious of locally made candy.
