'All You Can Taste' Mac & Cheese Fest Is Expanding For 2nd Year

Chicago's unanticipatedly large appetite for melted cheese and noodles has prompted the folks behind last year's first-ever Mac & Cheese Fest to expand their offerings this year for a longer, bigger festival.

The Mac & Cheese Fest sold out at the University of Illinois at Chicago Forum in its inaugural year, with 2,500 attendees and about 50 restaurants which vied for the adorable macaroni-shaped Golden Noodle Award. This year, more than 50 restaurants will peddle their golden, starchy fare, including Golden Noodle Award-winner Kitty O'Sheas.

Last year's fest took place in one dairy- and carbohydrate-loaded afternoon. This year, the fest will be spread out over two sessions, one in the afternoon and one in the evening.

Tickets for the Oct. 24 fest are going up by $10 this year to $60 per session, and will be available beginning Aug. 31 at macandcheesechicago.com, and includes an all-you-can-eat tasting buffet and five drink tickets.
