Widow And Son Of Fox Lake Cop Under Investigation: Reports

The widow and son of the Fox Lake police officer who has been accused of staging an elaborate crime scene and committing suicide in September are under investigation for criminal activity, according to new reports.

Fox Lake Village and Lake County authorities revealed in a shocking press conference Wednesday morning that a local and FBI investigation into Lt. Charles Joseph Gliniewicz's mysterious shooting death has revealed he committed suicide after failing to cover up criminal activity—namely stealing thousands of dollars from the local police force's youth police training program.

Authorities told reporters that two other individuals were under investigation relating to the theft and money laundering accusations. Now the Sun-Times and other news outlets are reporting that unnamed sources close to the investigation have said Gliniewicz's widow and son are the individuals being investigated.

Copies of text messages sent from Gliniewicz to two unnamed people show that at least two people were aware of his criminal behavior. According to the Sun-Times, those people were his wife, Mel and son, D.J.
