Video: Amy Schumer Nails A Suburban Chicago Accent On The 'Tonight Show'

By Rachel Cromidas in Arts & Entertainment on Apr 13, 2016 5:55PM

Amy Schumer imitated a suburban Chicago accent for Jimmy Fallon during Tuesday night's Tonight Show while discussing her relationship with furniture designer Aidan Shaw Ben Hanisch.

Hanisch is a Chicago-based furniture designer whose relationship with Schumer caught national attention earlier this year, and he grew up in Illinois. He's also likely the reason Schumer's been visiting Chicago more frequently lately, so we can't complain. Schumer says she and Hanisch are in love, and he is set to appear on the fourth season of her Comedy Central show, Inside Amy Schumer. Hanisch by all accounts sounds like the rom-com boyfriend of our dreams—but it's Schumer's account of his suburban mom that we find even more recognizable.

His mother is a Barrington native who now lives in Palatine, according to the Tribune. According to Schumer, she also knows how to deal with the paparazzi (telling a Time Magazine reporter that she's never heard of Schumer in her life), and draws out her vowel sounds like a native Chicagoan.

"No cah-ment... naht a problem," Schumer deadpans for Fallon in the clip, above.
