Early Sunday morning, a 32-year-old woman died after a group chased her and a male companion into traffic on Lake Shore Drive. She and the man with her were both hit by oncoming cars. The man, 43, is now in stable condition.

The incident took place at 1:30 a.m. in the 700 block of North Lake Shore Drive, just south of the Northwestern Law School. Portions of the attack were caught on video, including the shot of the assailants above. One member of the group shown had a gun, according to the victims, and attempted to rob them.

The pair leapt Lake Shore Drive's east barrier wall—with their attackers "immediately" following, police said—and were hit by southbound traffic. They were both transported to Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
