The man was standing near the fountain in the 500 block of South Columbus Drive. At around 9:45 p.m., he got into a verbal altercation with a group of men who had just stepped off a party bus, a police spokesperson told Chicagoist. One of the men pulled out a gun and shot the victim in the thigh. The victim was taken to Northwestern Hospital and listed in fair condition, police said.

No one is in custody as of Thursday morning.
