Smashing Pumpkins' Jimmy Chamberlin Is Selling A Ton Of His Drum Gear

Jimmy Chamberlin, the once and future drummer for Smashing Pumpkins, is undergoing one hell of a Spring cleaning exercise by unloading over 200 pieces from his personal collection of percussion instruments.

The sale is set to go live on Reverb on Feb. 22 and Chamberlin gives a guided tour of some of what will be available in the video above.

What's driving this purge? Reverb says Chamberlain, "likes to keep things fresh, always looking forward when it comes to his sound and playing." And that, "After 20-plus years of collecting gear for various projects, he believes these instruments should be in the hands of people who will play them regularly."

Expect drum gear from the breadth of Chamberlin's career to be up for sale. Visit the preview page of the sale to leaf through a huge gallery giving a taste of what will be available. Warning to fellow drummers: Be prepared to start salivating.

But be prepared to pay. The Tribune reported that prices originally ranged from $10 to $8,900, but have increased since then due to an "outpouring of interest."

Sadly, purchase of any of Chamberlin's drums does not include a drum lesson in order to learn how to play like him.
