After this week's unexpected warmth, our prize is ... today. A dark, damp, dank, dreary Friday. While the rain will taper off pretty early on in the day, clouds will stay and so will cool temps. In fact, temps will steadily decrease throughout the afternoon, falling into the 60s and gusty winds will add to its autumnal, blustery feel. Clouds will break and it'll be clear overnight but, again, one of the cooler nights we've had so far with lows near 50. At last, fall has caught up with us.

Today's Weather: Damp, Dark, Dank, Dreary
Gone is the sun. Gone is the warmth. Gone is all about spring we hold dear. In its place? The kind of weather we're used to seeing this time of year. It's a damp, dark, dank, dreary morning and it promises to be much of the same the rest of the day. Rain will come and go at time and some places could see an inch or two of rain. It'll be breezy and high temps shouldn't get much higher than they are now, in the upper 40s. Overnight, the rain continues and at least one forecast mentions a brief mix with snow as lows drop into the upper 30s. But if there's a silver lining to all these clouds, it's that this weekend is looking pretty dang good.
Today's Weather: The 5 D's
Dark. Damp. Dank. Dreary. Dismal. The 5 D's. That's what today is. Cloudy skies and plenty of rain to go around. And it might be around for a while. Temps will ever so slowly fall throughout the day, reaching 50 by late this afternoon, with the rain continuing overnight and lows in the upper 40s. Frisky west winds will hit 15 mph at time.

Another dark, damp, dank, dreary day for Chicago. Off and on rain showers coupled with highs in the mid 40s will give us an unseasonable chill for mid-October. If there's any glimmer of hope, it's that by Monday we could crack 70 degrees once more. Still, those warmer summer days are a distant memory far too soon. We dig the autumn, but were hoping for a gentler transition. Tonight, the chance of rain continues with lows in the lower 40s. Also, with the fears over the spread of H1N1, perhaps it's best to point out that today is Global Handwashing Day. Good hygiene, folks. That's the key.

Seriously, this is not what late summer should be about. Clouds, rain, and cool, clammy temps below 75? Dubya. Tee. Eff. Last night's rain has left things damp and occasional rain showers today might keep it that way. Highs will nudge right up to around 70. The dreary conditions continue into evening when lows fall into the lower 60s. We might as well have a laugh and wish Paul Reubens, aka Pee Wee Herman, a happy birthday. Now go rescue those snakes.

It's not the way we wanted to wake up on the weekend, but we have no other choice at this point. Showers will be the order of morning as light rain moves across the area but those will hopefully taper off as the day wears on. We may even see some breaks in the cloud later in the day, but we've given up hope. Highs should reach the mid 60s today and as the clouds break into the overnight hours, lows will be in the lower 50s. Tomorrow's looking nice for now, so maybe the weekend will still be salvageable.

We're not sure who's done what to anger the Weather Gods (it's probably Tankboy's fault) but it seems we've decided to just skip Summer altogether and go straight into Fall. There will be a chance of rain off and on throughout the day with overcast skies. Highs will cross the 60 degree mark, but not by much. The chance of rain extends into tonight as lows drop to around 50. Skilling Says we'll warm up a bit soon, but we're giving him the stink-eye right now anyway.

We're not sure what it is: the 'Hawks loss, Superman flying around the Earth so fast that we go back in time to March, Dementors at the city limits...but the weather has been absolutely lousy as of late. And it doesn't change much today. The lone improvement will be the alleged absence of rain. Cloudy skies will remain in place as temps struggle to reach the mid 60s. However, we're told there's hope. Tonight, clouds should break and we could be looking at sunny skies tomorrow and possibly even highs near 80s by Sunday.

Low clouds and cooler temps usher us into the work week after a beautiful stretch of weather last week. If there's any hope it's that after a rough start to the week this week, it gets better as we move forward, with rumors of a high near 80 lurking later in the week. But first. Today. Off and on rain showers fall throughout the day with some gusty winds, reaching upwards of 25 mph at times, with highs near 50. Tonight, rain continues and as the temp drops into the upper 30s, don't be surprised to see a few flakes mixed in as well.
Today's Weather: Dreary
Last night's rain tapers off, but it's still a-gonna be a dreary afternoon. The damp chill will hang around as will the clouds with highs around 54. Rain may make an encore overnight with lows in the mid 40s and continue into Saturday morning. Skilling promises that although Monday and Tuesday will be the area's coldest days in six months, Halloween will be mild with highs near 70.
