Low Turnout For Early Voting

Low Turnout For Early Voting

The number of Chicagoans voting early in this year's primary is down considerably from 2008's totals. With early voting for the February 2 primary date ending tomorrow, the Trib reports only 27,000 people have cast ballots early, a third of the 81,000 voters who cast ballots early in 2008 when Barack Obama was a candidate for president. That said, it's still above 14,000 people who voted early in 2006, the first year the option was available. more ›

Candidates, Start Your Filing

While the deadline for filing petitions to get on the ballot for the February 2nd primary isn't until next Tuesday, there was still a scramble at the Cook County Clerks office this morning (as well as Springfield's State Board of Elections office). Today was the first day candidates could file their petition and the reward for the first candidates to do so is being entered into a lottery that will determine who's listed at the top of the ballot. There are a bevy of offices up for grabs with the biggest being Governor, U.S. Senate, and Cook County Board President. [WBEZ, Tribune] more ›

Early voting has begun across the state, and will continue until January 31st. As long as you didn't/don't register during the grace period, from the 2nd until the 22nd, then you can take advantage of early voting for all primary races. That includes the big one, so be the first to shut all your friends up about Hillary vs. Obama vs. that one muppet and let them know you won't be hearin' any more of their idle talk until they do the damn thing. more ›
