TGIF and all that but we've got an eye on you, Friday. Your high will be in the lower 70s, a bit warmer than the cool weather we've had all week. But while you may start sunny, clouds and even a few sprinkles could be in the forecast later in the day, according to the Weather Wizard. In fact, Skilling says we should expect a little more wet weather in the coming weeks. So we'll give you a pass for now, Friday. After all, we're at the end of the week but still...watch it.
Today's Weather: Suspect
SW Side Rape Suspect Surrenders
Chauvet Stiggers, the man suspected in a pair of rapes last week on the Southwest Side, has turned himself in to police. Stiggers, who has used aliases including Rashaun Little, Andre Harris and DeAndre Harris, turned himself in last night but as of late last night had not been charged with anything. Besides the two rapes, he's also accused of exposing himself to a teen and trying to abduct another teen who was able to escape.
Suspect In Darien Triple Murder In Custody (Updated)
While he hasn't been named, authorities say they are seeking a 23-year-old man as a suspect in yesterday's triple murder in the west suburb of Darien. Police alerted authorities in Florida since they believe he may be headed there to see family. The man is said to be driving a 1994 BMW and, according to the Tribune, "The alert advises officers to use caution if approaching the car because he may be armed with a .40-caliber Glock pistol in a shoulder holster. The alert describes him as 'possibly suicidal.'"
Suspect Sought In Halloween Hit-And-Run
Chicago Police have identified a suspect in the Halloween night hit-and-run death of Rachel Gilliam. Gilliam was struck and killed by a vehicle as she was leaving Bowman's Bar and Grill where she worked as a bartender. Police named Carlos Castillo as a suspect at a press conference yesterday. According to the Tribune:
Robbery Suspect Released
A man arrested in connection with a string of Lincoln Park robberies has been released without charges being filed against him. The man, who was arrested earlier this week, had been picked up after a member of the public reported seeing a man resembling a police sketch of one of the suspects. While police said one victim had positively identified the man in a lineup, a Cook County assistant state's attorney cited a lack of evidence as why the man was not charged. Yesterday, Chicago Police superintendent Jody Weis said, "Hopefully, that will lead us somewhere. I am encouraged we have someone that is of interest, and he is speaking with us." Balfour's Lawyer Quits
The attorney for William Balfour, the man charged with the murders of Darnell Donnerson, Jason Hudson, and Julian King (actress/singer Jennifer Hudson's mother, brother, and nephew, respectively), has quit the case. Joshua Kutnick insists he believes his client is innocent but says he doesn't have the money for such a high-profile case. Said Kutnick, "It's the kind of case that involves intense hours. I was gathering all resources, but I couldn't finance it." Balfour is expected to receive new representation, a court-appointed public defender soon, soon.
