"I want to demystify the art of making truffles. It's not that complicated!" On that reassuring note, I began a truffle-making class with Katherine Anne Duncan, founder of Katherine Anne Confections. I'd visited Katherine before, and been impressed by her truffles, dipped caramels and other goodies - but things have moved forward for her company. No longer working out of a shared kitchen, Katherine now has her own, dedicated space in Logan Square where she can produce truffles and hold classes and events.   • Finally, for their monumental one-hundredth post/podcast at Chicago Bites, Bridget Houlihan and Tammy Green visited - and lived to gab about - Kuma's Corner. As impressed as they were by Kuma's famous burgers (houlihan scored it a 9 on a 10 scale, Green a 7), it was the macaroni and cheese that set their mouths a flutter!

    Hearts all across Chicago were broken last January when Zephyr closed its doors. We walked past its former space a few days ago and wouldn't you know, construction workers were busy building what looked to be another restaurant. Alas, it won't be Zephyr 2.0 but rather an Irish-style bar and restaurant (pictured), opening in March 2008 (to their best estimate). The workers didn't know what it was going to be called.
