If you're like Tankboy and need a bit of a break from Justice, then check out Diplo this evening at Debonair Social Club. We've raved about Diplo's DJ sets before, and this evening figures to be no different, especially since he'll still be on a high working the wheels of steel opening for Justice at the Riv. Diplo will be backed up by Joe Vortech, Dani Deahl, Local Hero, Specs, and many more.

1575 N. Milwaukee. Discounted admission with a Justice ticket stub.

Beer
Sam's Wine and Spirits South Loop location has yet to grow on us, even with a tasting bar and rooftop deck that's yet to be used. But if they keep scheduling events like tonight's beer tasting from 5-8 p.m. it would be a good start. They'll be cracking open everything from crisp lagers and smooth ales to hearty porters and stouts guaranteed to make you forget that the forecast called for snow this weekend.

50 E. Roosevelt, $30.

Music
"Open Mic Night:" three words that make the alcohol in our veins evaporate with The Fear. But the ongoing open mic residency at Bernice's Tavern is anything but scary. Bernice's has become the bar to visit in Bridgeport since the Puffer family decided to cash out of the tavern game, and ownership has taken full advantage of it, bringing in the locals and booking an eclectic array of acts on the weekends. Even with its raised profile, you still need to be buzzed in. Don Melas hosts the open mic this evening.

3238 S. Halsted, 9:30 p.m.

Theater
Remy Bumppo Theatre's "thinkTank 08: The inSecurity Blanket" explores the tension between national security and individual freedom by using short dramatic works with a focus on provoking conversation about issues in which local residents have a stake. For this evening's performance, Remy Bumppo will present Harold Pinter's One For The Road and Samuel Beckett's Catastrophe, two short plays dealing with unchecked political power. Solo performer Usman Ally uses slam poetry, dance, and beat boxing to tell the stories of his life as an American hip-hop loving Muslim of Pakastani descent. The show will be followed by a 30-minute discussion by Reem Rahman, Communications Coordinator of CAIR-Chicago, which is committed to defending the civil rights of American Muslims.

Victory Gardens Theater, 2257 N. Lincoln Ave., $20 ($15 students).
