Corn Flake Goes for $1,350

Remember when we told you about that quasi-Illinois-shapped corn flake? Well, it sold yesterday. $1,350. Only $50 more than what we told you bidding had topped last Monday. But in between, Ebay cancelled the auction, saying it violated their food policy. So the two sisters who listed the flake instead listed a coupon redeemable for a corn flake shaped like Illinois.
The winning bidder? Monty Kerr of Austin, Texas, who owns TriviaMania.com. He wants it for a traveling museum that will feature their collection of pop culture and Americana items. And get this--this is Kerr’s second serving of corn flakes, having bought what was billed as the world’s largest corn flake, but it broke into three pieces by the time it was delivered. So he’s going to have someone pick up Illinois flake in person.
Apparently, Illinois is a leader in an overnight fad -- corn flakes shaped like Hawaii and Virginia have been listed on Ebay, as has a potato chip shaped like Florida. It’s even sparked a merchandise line.
Just so you know, we saw Jesus on our waffle this morning, but the syrup has made it too soggy to resell.
